An Adaptogen Formula for Anxiety and Stress

Prepared in February of 2014 as a Tea formula: 4 teaspoons to be simmered for 15 minutes in 4 cups of water, strained, and consumed over the course of one day.

  • 1 part Nettles (deep cellular tonic)
  • 1 part Milky Oats (nervine tonic)
  • 1 part Damiana (nervine tonic)
  • 1 part Skullcap (nervine tonic
  • 2 parts Lemon Balm (nervine sedative)
  • 1/2 part Blue Vervain (to reduce driven-ness)
  • 1 part Linden (heart tonic)
  • 1 part Hawthorn (heart tonic)
  • 1/4 part Licorice (compliance)

I might have used/added Motherwort, Valerian, or CA Poppy for the nervine sedative; or Eleuthero, Ashwagandha, Codonopsis for long-term adaptogenic effects to the adrenals.
