Emollient

Emollients contain mucilage which are used to soothe and soften the skin, indicated for chapped lips, rashes, sunburn, and any skin irritation. A demulcent is a herb rich in mucilage used to soothe and protect irritated or inflamed tissues. When they are used on the skin they are called emollients.

  • Comfrey (Symphytum officinale)
  • Chickweed (Stellaria media)
  • Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum)
  • Cornsilk (Zea Mays)
  • Marshmallow (Althea officinalis)
  • Couch grass (Agropyron repens)
  • Slippery Elm (Ulmus fulvus)
  • Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
