Antimicrobial
Antimicrobials clear infection by killing or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms. Many also strengthen natural defenses. Antimicrobials can be grouped according to the microorganisms they act primarily against: antibacterials (also known as antibiotics) are used against bacteria and antifungals are used against fungi. Herbal antimicrobials have been shown to be selective, which is preferred to broad-spectrum antibiotic drugs from the perspective of gut health.
