Herbal First Aid Kit
Here’s the contents of my travel first Aid Kit, combined from Maria Dewees’ class on Herbal First Aid at the BSHS and Hannah Spark’s course at Herbstalk in June of 2013. I also added and subtracted based on what my family usually gets into (our big four: ticks, poison ivy, cuts, burns).
- Essential oils of Lavender and Oregano (for the burns and ticks, respectively)
- Yarrow flower and leaf, dried (cuts)
- All-Purpose Salve
- Chamomile teabags
- Ace Bandages, butterflies, gauze pads, 2 kinds of tape and cheesecloth
- Mini scissors
- Tweezers (ticks again, and splinters)
- Tick Hell (glass jar half-full of rubbing alcohol)
- Activated charcoal
- Small vial of Hydrogen Peroxide
- Coldpack, snap kind
- Disposable gloves
- Ziplock baggie with flannel wipes
- Mini antiseptic spritz for wipes or solo
- Eye cup
- Flashlight
- Pain tincture of Passionflower, Wild lettuce, California poppy, Indian Pipe, Skullcap
- Tourniquet
- Cayenne
- Lancet
- Magnifying lens 10x
- Lighter
- Razor blades
- Soap
- Thermometer
- Kloss’s Linament
- Duct tape
- Essential oils of Tea Tree, Frankincense, Rosemary, Helichrysum
- Rescue Remedy Flower Essence
- Homeopathic Arnica 6x, Carbo vegetibilis, Symphytum belladonna, Urtica-urens, Hypericum, Rhus tox
- 4 First-Aid Teas to keep on hand: Thyme, Lavender, Yarrow, Marshmallow
